"A digital-only Call Of Duty service has been announced by Activision.

CEO Bobby Kotick said that a new studio named Beachhead will work exclusively on developing the platform, hinting at a subscription model for the series' multiplayer.

"Beachhead will create the best-in-class online community, exclusive content and a suite of services to supercharge the online gaming experience like never before," he told investors, according to Joystiq.

"The platform will support in-game integration and bring online experiences and console play together for the first time. The platform has been in development for over a year and we're very excited about the increased value we can bring to the community."

He added: "We look forward to sharing more specifics on this exciting new endeavour with you in the near future."


basicly it will be world of warcraft you will pay per game on a monthly price plan.

If they do pay to play, then the game will be aimed towards MAG or Planetside numbers of players ingame at once.

If not, then its a friggin joke.

fuck that.every game since cod4 has been garbage so why the hell would they expect us to pay for the privellage of playing a game thats easilly hacked,lags,and punishes good connections?these pricks didn't even want to fork out for dedicated servers so why should we pay to play?battlefield or medal of honor will be loving it.

Couldn't agree more, this news takes the piss with the state of the current servers. They can stick their game up their money grabbing asses if they introduce this.

Like Wayne said EA will be loving this news, will move people over to battlefield and medal of honour.

Also will be interesting with EA signing publishing deal with the new studio that came from the fall out of the whole Activision v Infinity Ward rubbish that went .
