Ok so i have been doing the beta for the new elite service and the non disclosure policy has been lifted so i can show you the screens. It isnt fully working yet but you can see the basics.
(By the way so far there has been nothing on show that makes it worth paying for)
Here is the main page:You can see on the left hand side of the screens that you have 4 areas,
Career is just an in depth look at your playercard and all your custom classes, killstreaks,Weapons ect ect.
Connect gives you the options to link CoD to facebook, Youtube, xbox360 and PS3, pc will be added later. It also has the group and clan screens. the clan part is still unavailable but in the group part you can have team stats and group leaderboards and stuff.
Compete is where i think the monthy fee will come in. There has been 2 competitions so far in the beta, what happens is they post a competition eg there was one yesterday for HC Headquarters for most HQ captured. you then need to sign up for the competition then go play and your stats will be put on a competition leaderboard. There was a prize of some sort of rucksack for the winner and there is a tier system of second and third places where you get given medals. however you will probably need to be online all day to compete as the HQ capture winner had about 700 + captures in 1 day
Improve This area is quite good. it looks at the way you play CoD and tries to help you get better by showing you related videos to what you do e.g. i use the galil often and there is all different tutorials to help get the best out of it and which attachments complement it well ect. there are help topics for everything in the game. (i hope peeps will look at the HQ tutorials so they see that when the defend triangle starts flashing that the HQ is under attack, cause that is one thing that bugs me when people just sit not moving just round the corner not realising it !!
)
My overall opinion of elite is that the help pages are really good and even have loads of good info for noobs/pro's alike. The career page is nothing that cant be seen in game but it has a real good layout. Compete is ok but its nothing amazing and i think this will be where the PPM stuff is at. and the connect part is good if you wanna show off videos pics ect and hopefully the clan section will be as good.
I will be signing up for the Elite service when it goes live but i cant see me ever feeling the need to pay around £5-£10 a month for the basic competitions on offer (plus i will never be good enough to compete at a level where i can win the major prize
)
